I’ve known some people who could dance. I mean, they could really move. And, I’ve known some people who really can’t. *cough* my husband *cough*
My, my, excuse me, I have a little cold lately. Now imagine if my cough wasn’t just a run-of-the-mill seasonal cold but, one that had been infected with a paralyzing virus. Polio, is a “viral disease that can affect nerves and can lead to partial or full paralysis.”
That’s what happened to Dergin Tokmak when he was just one years old. Although I’m not exactly sure the way in which he contracted the disease, it ultimately left him partially paralyzed. He lost the ability entirely to control his left leg and partially lost control of his right leg; but that didn’t stop his true passion… to dance. Who would have thought?
The message that he wants to leave with the world is even better than his dancing. He says, “I want to pass on to the next generation … so people can see that no handicap is too big or too limiting to dance. My message as an artist is to show the world that there is a creative soul in everyone with or without a handicap.
Watch this video of him dancing, you won’t be disappointed. You can thank me later for this little inspiration ditty. Happy Friday!
